Lions seek to extend unbeaten run

04:59 AM June 10, 2019

San Beda seeks to extend its unbeaten run in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup Monday when the roaring Red Lions battle shorthanded San Sebastian College-Recoletos at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

With a 5-0 card to lead Group B, the Lions tangle with the Stags in the 5:45 p.m. contest and will, as usual, look to new scoring leaders James Kwekuteye and Clint Doliguez to carry much of the offensive load for them.

Despite missing star forward Allyn Bulanadi who is out for a few weeks with a dislocated shoulder, the Stags still went on to defeat Centro Escolar University, 90-88, on Friday.

The Stags will count on the vastly improved RK Ilagan, returning Alvin Capobres, and JM Calma in their game against San Beda. At 4-1, the Stags hope to stay ahead of 4-2 La Salle in Group A.

In other key matches, National University slugs it out with Lyceum of the Philippines in the 2:15 p.m. game, looking for a win that would bolster its quarterfinal chances.

NU is on the outside looking in at fifth with a 3-2 record. If they can defeat LPU and Adamson in their final elimination round matches, the Bulldogs will advance.
