PSL: Sta. Lucia edges new team Marinerang Pilipina
MANILA, Philippines—Rachel Austero scored three straight points late as Sta. Lucia Realty turned back newcomer Marinerang Pilipina, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23, Saturday night at the start of the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference.
Austero’s scoring binge came from behind the net, blocking and tipping to cap the Lady Realtors searing comeback in the third set after trailing 23-20.
Sta. Lucia imposed its offensive might, out-attacking Marinera, 17-14, in the opening set and 15-10 in the second frame.
But Marinerang Pilipina provided a scare, coming just two points away from taking the third frame.
From 23-22 Marinera lead, Austero came through with a block on Cesca Racraquin and then pushing the ball twice in a row to ice the match.
