Justin Brownlee, Ginebra escape San Miguel in OT
MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra escaped San Miguel Beermen in overtime, 110-107, to arrest a two-game losing streak in Sunday’s cardiac nightcap at Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Justin Brownlee came through once again for the Gin Kings, scoring 39 points—11 in the fourth and three more in the extra period—to turn back the hard-fighting Beermen.
Article continues after this advertisement“Just two heavyweights going at each other,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone, who even noted the playoff intensity of the match. “It took an extra round. But I liked the game because of [my team’s] character.”
LA Tenorio tossed in 16 as three more Gin Kings finished in twin digits to help Ginebra return to the win column with a 3-3 record.
Charles Rhodes had 34 points and 12 rebounds while Chris Ross had a triple-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the losing stand that dropped the Beermen settle for a 1-3 card.

San Miguel, meanwhile, goes up against 4-3 Alaska this Friday at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.
