Petron vows no letup in All-Filipino

Petron may be the most accomplished team in the Philippine Superliga, but for coach Shaq delos Santos, the hard work must continue.

At this point, Delos Santos said the Blaze Spikers can’t afford to rest on their laurels because they have a winning tradition to keep.

“We have to take care of the dynasty that we worked hard for,” said the mentor of the franchise that has won five conference titles already.

Petron starts its campaign for a third straight All-Filipino Conference trophy on Thursday against new team Marinerang Pilipina at Imus City Sports Complex.

Petron is coming from a championship in the import-laced Grand Prix.

“I believe we have a complete team and the morale is very high,” Delos Santos said. “But that only means we must work double hard because the other teams are also working very hard.”

Petron will brandish reigning UAAP MVP Sisi Rondina and regulars Mika Reyes, Aiza Pontillas, Ces Molina, Remy Palma, Bernadeth Pons and Rhea Dimaculangan.

Foton, meanwhile, will shoot for a second straight victory when the Tornadoes battle Generika-Ayala in the other game.

The doubleheader starts at 4:15 p.m.
