BCDA bares plan to pilot driverless vehicles in SEA Games
NEW CLARK CITY, Philippines — Autonomous or “driverless” vehicles will be cruising around New Clark City during the Southeast Asian Games in November.
Bases Conversion and Development (BCDA) President and CEO Vivencio Dizon announced this on Thursday during a site visit with Senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II.
“I am happy to announce that we will be piloting autonomous vehicles in November,” Dizon said.
Dizon added that BCDA will be signing a memorandum of agreement with a US company that will pilot the vehicles, specifically buses and cars which will take athletes around the sports complex.
However, Dizon did not disclose the US company that will undertake the project with the BCDA.
BCDA is currently working on a portion of the 9,000 hectare-property to build the main sports complex, aquatic center, and dormitories for the athletes.
