As Manny Pacquiao approaches the twilight of his career, the need to fill a huge boxing void will be a major concern for Philippine sports.

Boxing legend Gerry Peñalosa may just have the answer.

The former Filipino world champion’s Gerrypens Promotions teamed up with ESPN5 for a reality-show type boxing tournament training program called “Ultimate Boxing Series: Kamaong Pinoy.”

The unique series will feature 10 professional boxers representing different stables training under the watchful eye of Peñalosa. They will face off against each other until only two will remain and vie for the crown in a nationally televised event on ESPN5.

The series will also delve into the private life of the boxers as they fight to build a future for their families.

“The Pinoy boxer’s fist is not only for fighting, but also for protecting the ones they love,” Peñalosa said in Filipino.

The reality series premieres on June 23 will be seen Sundays at 12 noon on the sports network.
