Creamline only has one blemish in its record in the Premier Volleyball League. And while the Cool Smashers cannot erase that, they can get payback against the team that dealt them their only loss thus far.
And how’s this for a bonus: That team is undefeated, giving Creamline the chance to mess up a clean slate, too.
The Cool Smashers take on the PetroGazz Angels anew, hoping to forge a tie at the top of the standings Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre.
“It’s going to be an exciting match against PetroGazz, we learned a lot from our first round match,” said Creamline setter Jia Morado.
While both teams are assured of spots in the semifinals, they will be fighting for bragging rights and the No. 1 spot in the next round.
Motolite, meanwhile, will try to gift returning star Myla Pablo a victory when it battles winless BaliPure in the other match.
Pablo will also have to dig deeper in her comeback from injury after debuting in a loss last Wednesday, when she managed just three points.
PetroGazz, which has relied on a steady performance from its low-key roster to steamroll the opposition thus far, hopes to keep that unbeaten slate intact and continue its mastery over a star-filled Creamline team that features Alyssa Valdez, Morado, Jema Galanza and Michele Gumabao.
But the Angels will face a motivated Cool Smashers, especially Valdez, who fell to injury in the second set during their first meeting—a PetroGazz victory.
PetroGazz will also parade a flashy pair of imports in Janisa Johnson and Wilma Salas.
