MANILA, Philippines—Terrence Jones was nothing short of magnificent when TNT took the luster out of Rain or Shine, 102-81, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jones tallied an impressive triple-double of 33 points, 21 rebounds, and 13 assists with four steals and two blocks to boot and the versatile forward is confident it’s not just him who can sustain his brilliant play.
Jones said for them to move forward and close the eliminations on a strong note, he and his teammates will have to play better than what they’re currently in.
“It’s on me to make sure everybody’s staying involved in the offense,” said Jones. “Whether that’s hitting guys for corner threes or finding a big in transition that’s running hard and reward them for that.”
“I’m just making sure I’m doing my thing and get everybody involved.”
The KaTropa had the kind of game Jones wanted as three of their players finished in double-digit scoring.
Roger Pogoy, often the recipient of Jones’ passes, tallied 19 points, on 6-of-14 shooting, with seven rebounds while Jayson Castro finished with 15 points, six boards, and five assists.
Don Trollano also got going on offense with 13 points while also grabbing eight rebounds.
The Katropa’s win gave them a league-best 8-1 record, half-a-game above No. 2 NorthPort but their job is not done yet.
“We’re just taking it one game at a time, not really trying to look too far down the schedule and just worrying about the task at hand and the team we play next,” said Jones.
