Jordan Clarkson rocks ‘Philippine basketball’ shirt during training
MANILA, Philippines—Jordan Clarkson is no doubt proud of his Filipino roots.
The Fil-American NBA guard wore a red Nike shirt with the Philippine flag and the word basketball emblazoned on it during a training session in Los Angeles on Thursday. He shared the photos on Instagram.
Clarkson, who is born to a Filipino mother, has always been vocal about wanting to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas again after playing for the national team in the 2018 Asian Games, where he even served as a flag bearer.
But the Cleveland Cavaliers guard won’t be joining Gilas in the 2019 Fiba World Cup due to eligibility issues. He is still not considered a local by Fiba despite holding a Philippine passport.
