PSL: Foton keeps Marinerang Pilipina winless

MANILA, Philippines–Foton weathered a turbulent opening set to cruise past Marinerang Pilipina, 27-25, 25-15, 25-20 Saturday and register its second straight win in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Malolos City Sports and Convention Center.

The Tornadoes ran against the Lady Skippers desperate to score their first win, needing key hits from Jaja Santiago to escape the worrisome first set.

Foton led in attacks, 16-11, in the frame but Marinerang Pilipina scored five aces in the same set, taking advantage of the Tornadoes’ spotty reception.

But Foton stepped on it in the nest set, scoring four blocks and 12 attacks to finally take control.

It was the Tornadoes’ third win in six matches. Marinera dropped its five straight defeat.
