Jimmy Alapag meets ‘The Logo’ Jerry West

MANILA, Philippines—Jimmy Alapag’s NBA experience continues with stumbling upon a basketball legend in Jerry West.

Alapag, who is currently serving as an assistant coach of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Summer League, raved about the rare chance to see “The Logo” in the flesh and snap a photo.

“Been a fan of this game since I was a kid… Not everyday you get the opportunity to meet The Logo himself, “Mr. Clutch” Jerry West,” Alapag wrote on Instagram.

West, who played 14 seasons in the NBA all for the Los Angeles Lakers, now works his magic as an executive for the Los Angeles Clippers.

A one-time NBA champion and 10-time All-NBA First Team member, West earned the nickname “Mr. Clutch” for his ability to flourish in pressure-packed moments. He once hit a 60-foot buzzer-beater that tied Game 3 of the 1970 NBA Finals against the New York Knicks.

Interestingly, Alapag, one of the most revered players in the Philippines is known for hitting big shots throughout his PBA career as well.
