MANILA, Philippines—Go for Gold Philippines has inked a partnership with FIBA to drum up interest for the 2019 Basketball World Cup and other tournaments.

The partnership, which runs until June 2020, aims to help build up enthusiasm among the Filipino basketball fans especially with Gilas Pilipinas set to play in its second consecutive World Cup this August in China.

“The national team competitions within FIBA basketball are key.  We want to capture more attention and more followers for FIBA basketball,” said Frank Leenders, director general of Fiba Media and Marketing services, said of the partnership.

“We want the fans to get excited about their national team moving towards our primary competitions. By seeking out partners in the Philippines and by bringing the FIBA Basketball World Cup Trophy to the country, we’re engaging our fans and helping them to feel a part of the World Cup competition this year.”

Go for Gold, a supporter of national athletes in various sports and backer of several teams, will launch the collaboration with basketball governing body during its attempt to break Guinness World Record for the most number of people dribbling basketballs simultaneously on July 21 at Mall of Asia.

More 10,000 dribblers are expected to attend the event.

As part of its promotion, Go for Gold customers also have a chance to win a trip to China to support Gilas Pilipinas live.
