Mighty-PH logs 2nd win, routs Jordan

Mighty Sports-Philippines crushed Jordan, 90-74, for its second straight victory in the Jones Cup on Saturday at Changhua County Gym in Chinese Taipei.

With Eugene Phelps and Renaldo Balkman presiding over the team’s onslaught, Mighty Sports was never in trouble as it used its quickness and solid defensive transition to disarm the beefy Jordanians.

Phelps led the Philippine representative to the tournament with 20 points, while Balkman and Roosevelt Adams chipped in 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Mikey Williams was again on target as he buried three triples for the second straight game to help Mighty to a 44-29 halftime lead.

The win put the Philippines on track for a title after opening with a 98-72 rout of a young Iran club.

Mighty Sports battles Japan on Sunday.

The loss was the second straight for Jordan as it absorbed a 69-64 defeat to Korea also Friday.
