MANILA, Philippines—Mighty Sports-Go for Gold Pilipinas resumes its gold medal hunt when it battles Indonesia on Friday in the 2019 Jones Cup in Changhua, Taiwan.

Undefeated at 5-0, the country’s representative to the annual tournament only needs to win two of the three remaining games to capture its second Jones Cup crown but a sweep remains its ultimate goal.

“It would be nice if we reclaim the title via a sweep,” said team owner Alexander Wongchuking. “It’s sweeter the second time around.”

Behind imports Renaldo Balkman and Eugene Phelps, Mighty Sports has won all its games with a margin of 22.6 points with the 89-82 decision over World Cup-bound South Korea the closest one yet.

Against the Indonesians, the head coach Charles Tiu will likely give players like Fil-American players like Jason Brickman, Mikey Williams, and Jeremiah Gray a chance to shine.

Mighty Sports goes for the clincher on Saturday against host Taiwan-A before capping its campaign against Taiwan B on Sunday.
