NCAA: Agem Miranda delivers JRU’s 1st win after 0-3 start

MANILA, Philippines—Agem Miranda delivered Jose Rizal University to the winners’ table with a clutch corner three for his team’s 80-77 win over Arellano University Friday at Filoil Flying V Center.

John Delos Santos and Miranda connected on the two-man play that opened up the latter for the open shot with 1.7 seconds left in the game.

The win snapped the Heavy Bombers’ three-game skid as they improved to 1-3 while the Chiefs fell to their third straight loss.

Miranda, who also tied the game at 77-77 with 29.3 seconds to play, finished with 26 points, 18 in the second half, and five rebounds for JRU.

Stefan Steinl added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Heavy Bombers with Delos Santos doing the dirty work with seven points and 12 rebounds.

Rence Alcoriza led the Chiefs with 21 points and four assists.
