‘Professor’ Pacquiao: I hope Keith Thurman studied, I give very hard tests

LAS VEGAS—It will be back to school for Keith Thurman on Saturday and Manny Pacquiao will be his mentor.

That’s how Pacquiao, the living legend, sees it when they finally meet inside the ring for their welterweight title unification bout at MGM Grand Garden Arena here.

”Tomorrow night, class is in session. I hope Keith Thurman studied hard because Prof. Pacquiao gives very hard tests,” he said after the official weigh-in Friday.

Out to prove he is still one of the best in the division, Pacquiao is not only looking for a victory but also aiming to put on a masterclass, using his speed, footwork and experience that the 30-year-old Thurman hasn’t seen before.

Thurman, on the other hand, eyes to write the final chapter to Pacquiao’s storied career.

The undefeated American, who is currently the longest-reigning welterweight champion, hopes to make full use of his two-inch height and reach advantage.
