LAS VEGAS—Filipino boxer Jayar Inson was given a golden opportunity to make a name for himself after being tapped as a late replacement against Sergey Lipinets.
Inson, who hails from Davao City, wasn’t ready for the big moment yet as he suffered a quick stoppage loss to Lipinets in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Keith Thurman headliner Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena here.
The 28-year-old Inson got caught with a crushing left and went down like a log as Lipinets picked up the second-round TKO.

“A great fighter executes what you expect him to do and he is a great fighter,” said Joe Goosen, Lipinets’ trainer.
Lipinets, the former IBF light welterweight champion, improved to 16-1, with 12 knockouts.
Inson, who took his third defeat against 18 wins, stepped in as a replacement for John Molina Jr. (30-8, 24 KOs), who pulled out of the fight due to a back injury.
