PLDT Home Fibr pounced on struggling Sta. Lucia, 20-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-18, to snap its five-game slide in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference yesterday at Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Aiko Urdas and Grethcel Soltones showed the way for the Power Hitters, who also drew strong support from their second stringers to improve to a 3-6 win-loss record for the No. 6 spot.

Urdas delivered with a game-high 20 points while Soltones, playing under the weather, came off the bench to finish with 10 points, highlighted by the match-winning hit in the fourth set. She also threw in nine excellent receptions.

Sasa Devanadera and Shola Alvarez added eight points each with the latter contributing 15 digs.

“I’m happy because we finally ended our losing streak because this conference has been hard for us. We’ve been struggling for the past games,” PLDT head coach Roger Gorayeb said.

Sta. Lucia wrote its own doom by surrendering 37 points on errors against PLDT, which only had 19 freebies off miscues—most of which came in that first-set defeat.
