MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel head coach Leo Austria is hoping for the best after star shooter Marcio Lassiter injured his knee in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lassiter left the game against NorthPort with 3:22 left in the second quarter after he bumped knees against Garvo while going for a block attempt.

The collision forced Lassiter to miss the whole game as he was rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan to undergo an MRI scan on his left knee.

“I instructed our PTs (physical therapists) that as soon as possible Marcio should undergo an MRI scan so we can determine the right steps that should be the best for him,” said Austria in Filipino after the Beermen’s 90-88 win.

“We all know that Marcio is a floor spacer and a two-way player so I hope he can recover in the next round because he’s important in our rotation.”

Lassiter is the Beermen’s most reliable wing averaging 12.6 points, on 38 percent shooting from deep, 4.2 assists, and 1.1 steals during the eliminations.

Despite playing for just 16 minutes, 18 minutes less than his usual stay on the court, the 6-foot-2 shooting guard put up 11 points, on 3-of-4 shooting from deep, three rebounds, two assists, and one block.
