MANILA, Philippines—The Gilas Pilipinas women’s team suffered yet another heartbreak, this time against Taiwan A, 99-91, in overtime Friday to continue the winless spell in the 2019 William Jones Cup at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.

Both teams were tied at 82-all after the fourth quarter but it was Taiwan A that had the stronger will to finish things off.

Taiwan A outscored the Philippines 17-9 in the extra frame to claim their first win in three games while Gilas dropped to the bottom of the standings with a 0-3 record.

Janine Pontejos had 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting while Kelli Casey Hayes added 14 points and five rebounds for the Philippines.

Taiwan A, which tied Taiwan B and Korea for the third spot in the standings, had two of its players breach the 20-point barrier with Fan-Shan Huang leading the way with 23 points and six rebounds.

Szu-Chin Pang had 26 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals to add to Taiwan A’s cause.
