Asi Taulava helps out at Gilas practice

MANILA, Philippines—Asi Taulava showed up and provided the extra body at Gilas Pilipinas practice at Meralco Gym Monday night.

Taulava’s appearance was much-needed as only eight players from the national team pool were in attendance.

Those who suited up were Kiefer Ravena, Matthew Wright, Andray Blatche, Mark Barroca, CJ Perez, Paul Lee, Poy Erram and Raymond Almazan.

The 46-year-old Taulava was a former national team veteran who last saw action for Gilas during the fourth window of the Fiba World Cup qualifiers last year.

Gilas is scheduled to leave for Spain on Friday to play in a pocket tournament as part of its build up for the Fiba World Cup.
