NCAA: Letran wins 5 straight after holding off Mapua

MANILA, Philippines– Letran overcame Mapua, 89-84, to stretch its winning streak to five games in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament Tuesday.

Larry Muyang led the scorching Knights with 24 points and nine rebounds while Bonbon Batiller contributed 15 points, four boards and three assists.

Despite the victory, Letran coach Bonnie Tan was far from satisfied with his team’s performance, especially with the Knights getting outrebounded, 45-39.

“We’re happy but it was a bad game (for us). I’m still happy with the win,” said Tan.

Bonbon Batiller buried a long three in the closing seconds for Knights, who have not lost since the sorry defeat at the hands of the Lyceum Pirates on opening day.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, have yet to register a win in five games. June Navarro
