An easy source of wins for away teams last season, the Pasig Sports Complex is turning out to be a fortress for the Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors in the MPBL Lakan Season.
No longer a pushover following a roster revamp in the off-season, the Realtors protected home court once again with an 89-77 walloping of the Soccsksargen Marlins late Friday night for their fourth straight victory that also surpassed their win total from last season.
It was Jeric Teng’s turn to shine for the Realtors as the former University of Santo Tomas gunner finished with 25 points.
Named the best player in Pasig’s last three home wins, Rob Manalang also sparkled with 15 points, including a triple in the final period that kept the Marlins at bay.
Not even a storm could prevent Pasig’s supporters from filling up the venue and they were rewarded by the Realtors, who moved up to fourth in the North division with a 5-2 record.
“This crowd motivates us to do our best,” Sta. Lucia team manager Buddy Encarnado said. “For showing up even with the bad weather and the games being played, they deserve our best performance, nothing less.”
Teng, arguably the biggest name to sign for Pasig during the offseason, was glad to see almost the entire team contribute in the victory.
“We have a lot of games left and coming into this game we really want everyone to contribute,” Teng said.
