Petron hardly breaks sweat vs Marinera

Defending champion Petron made short work of winless Marinerang Pilipina, needing just 78 minutes to score a 25-12, 25-17, 25-9 win in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons starred as the Blaze Spikers demolished the Lady Skippers to chalk up their 11th win in 12 outings.

Rondina delivered a game-high 13 points off seven attacks, four service aces and two blocks while Pons nailed 11 attacks for all her points on top of 14 digs.

The Lady Skippers limped to a 13th straight defeat.

Rhea Dimaculangan dished out 21 excellent sets while Ces Molina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had seven and six points, respectively, for Petron, which also drew impressives game from Mika Reyes and Mela Tunay.

Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos had the luxury of fielding all his 14 players in winning for the ninth straight time and sticking close to undefeated leader F2 Logistics.

The two powerhouses clash on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

“I’m happy that all my players delivered,” said Delos Santos. “Fielding all of them was part of the game plan and as I told them to get ready, they played well-prepared.”

The Blaze Spikers had a 44-18 advantage in attack points to highlight its dominance of the contest.

No Lady Skipper scored in double figures with Dimdim Pacres serving as the lone bright spot with nine points.
