Impressive playoff showing gives Javee Mocon another PBA Rookie of Month award

MANILA, Philippines—Javee Mocon earned his third PBA Press Corps Rookie of the Month plum after helping Rain or Shine make it to the semifinals of the Commissioner’s Cup.

The versatile forward took his part in holding the fort for Rain or Shine, which was plagued with import woes in the late stretch of the Commissioner’s Cup, averaging 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 10 games from the eliminations to the playoffs.

Mocon’s contributions kept the Elasto Painters in the playoff race as they ended the eliminations with a 5-5 card.

This body of work made Mocon the top rookie for July after earning a unanimous 10-vote decision from the press corps, replicating his exploits in February and April.

Mocon, the sixth overall pick of the 2018 Draft, beat out s CJ Perez of Columbian, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. of Blackwater, and Robert Bolick of NorthPort.

Of the four, Perez had the best numbers, putting up 22.3 points per game, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in July but the Dyip failed to get into the playoffs.

Parks led the Elite to the third seed in the conference, their highest in franchise history, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists but his team was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Mocon’s Elasto Painters.

Bolick also made history for his team-leading the Batang Pier to the second spot after the eliminations with an average of 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, but NorthPort lost to San Miguel in the quarterfinals.
