MANILA, Philippines—Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang outclassed Anthony Do via unanimous decision in the main event of ONE Warrior Series 7 to earn a six-figure ONE Championship contract Tuesday in Singapore.
Adiwang (9-2) also received a Warrior Bonus with Dave Bangguigui, Caitlun McEwan, Michael Walker, and Do for their performances in their respective bouts.
“From top to bottom this is the most exciting card we have ever put together, and every athlete put it on the line,” said ONE Warrior Series CEO Rich Franklin.
ONE Warrior Series is a subsidiary of ONE Championship that searches for potential martial artists to join the promotion’s ranks.
Franklin added Adiwang had the hardest path to the contract but the Team Lakay prospect usually delivered.
“Lito, the 10th ONE Championship contract winner, has had the toughest matchups since he joined ONE Warrior Series and he never disappointed with his performances,” said Franklin.
Jonathan Fong, Director of ONE Warrior Series, said he looks forward to Adiwang joining ONE’s stacked strawweight division that has his Team Lakay brother Joshua Pacio as the World champion.
“Lito always put on the most exciting performances every time he stepped into ONE Warrior Series ring,” said Fong. “With Lito moving on to ONE Championship, no doubt the already stacked strawweight division will take notice of his power and explosiveness.”
