Echo Laure, 4 other Filipinos selected for Basketball Without Borders Asia camp

MANILA, Philippines—Following in the footsteps of his dad and former PBA veteran Eddie Laure, Echo Laure will lead five Filipino representatives set to participate in the 11th Basketball Without Borders Asia from August 14 to 17 in Tokyo, Japan.

Joining Echo, brother of University of Santo Tomas volleyball stars EJ and Eya, as part of the 64 boys and girls selected by the NBA and FIBA are Jr. NBA All-Stars Harold Alarcon, Florence Jil Talas, FIBA 3×3 standout Kristine Cayabyab, and Gilas Pilipinas Youth forward Joshua Rafael Lazaro.

BWB Asia 2019 will feature a number of current and former NBA players, including three-time NBA Champion Sam Cassell, Golden State Warriors center Kevon Looney, Milwaukee Bucks big man Robin Lopez and Japanese star Yuta Tabuse, who played for the Phoenix Suns.

Former WNBA players Ashley Battle, Allison Feaster and Yolanda Moore will also participate in the camp and coach the top young campers in the Asia-Pacific region.

Current NBA assistant coaches Pat Delany (Orlando Magic), Bryan Gates (Minnesota Timberwolves), Antonio Lang (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Wes Unseld Jr. (Denver Nuggets) will be coaches during the camp.

Patrick Hunt, President of the World Association of Basketball Coaches, will be the camp director while Jeff Tanaka of the Chicago Bulls will serve as the athletic trainer.
