MANILA, Philippines—There has been no WWE Superstar who has captivated the wrestling world as of late better than Becky Lynch.

The real life Rebecca Quin broke the proverbial glass ceiling during her monster run across 2018 and 2019 and it went full throttle when she became Raw and Smack Down women’s champion at the main event of Wrestlemania—the first time women main evented WWE’s main spectacle.

Lynch has captivated the wrestling community and fellow Irish Superstar Sheamus couldn’t be any happier.

“Becky is awesome, she’s one of my closest friends and we talk a lot even before she came to the WWE and she’s just an awesome person,” said the real life Stephen Farrelly during his media availability Thursday at Skinny Mike’s in Bonifacio Global City.

Sheamus is in the country to promote WWE Live Manila that will take place on Sept. 20 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“She’s an amazing human being, very genuine, very hardworking, very passionate, and did it on her own. She took the opportunity and she got it.”

Lynch was already an established star in the WWE, becoming the inaugural Smack Down women’s champion in 2016 as a face but she became a white hot supernova when she turned heel in 2018 attacking Charlotte Flair at the end of their Triple Threat match with Carmella in that year’s Summer Slam.

Despite being a heel, the WWE Universe eagerly accepted Lynch’s new persona as The Man going up against various challenges including WWE’s authority figures Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Lynch’s mega run even drew comparisons from the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin during the Attitude Era where The Rattlesnake feuded constantly with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

“I just want to see her riding that wave and she’s super talented,” said Sheamus.
