Raw but talented guard Evan Nelle is fast evolving into somebody that San Beda can really turn to.
After putting stability at the backcourt in their narrow win against the Letran Knights, San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez has labeled the sly 5-foot-9 playmaker as the future cornerstone of the team.
“I saw the future [of the team] in Evan and I can say that he’s now one of the best point guards in college,” Fernandez said.
Nelle will play a key role when the Lions put their unbeaten streak in Season 95 of the NCAA basketball tournament on the line against Perpetual Help at 12 noon at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Also going for a sixth consecutive victory is College of St. Benilde, which collides with Lyceum in the 4 p.m. contest.
The Blazers are looking to extend their finest start since joining the league in 1998.
