BanKo Perlas hopes to regain its winning ways when it tangles with grounded Air Force even as Chef’s Classic debuts against Motolite in Saturday’s doubleheader in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Despite the presence of explosive scorers, the Perlas Spikers got ambushed by PacificTown-Army on Wednesday, dulling the glow of their opening-day win over PetroGazz.
Nicole Tiamzon, Dzi Gervacio and Kath Bersola combined for 53 points for BanKo in that loss to PacificTown-Army and will lead the charge anew against Air Force, which crashed against defending champion Creamline on opening day.
Motolite, which ran out of power during its first outing against Creamline, hopes to finally nail its first win against unheralded first-timer Chef’s Classic.
Led by veteran Myla Pablo and collegiate heroines Tots Carlos, Isa Molde and Maristela Layug and Fil-Am setter Iris Tolenada, the Power Builders are runaway favorites in the 4 p.m. match—at least on paper. —MARC ANTHONY REYES
