MANILA, Philippines—College of St. Benilde opened its campaign with a bang, subduing Far Eastern University in straight sets, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17, in the opening match of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.

Klarisa Abriam led the Lady Blazers with 13 points while Chelsea Umali and Diane Ventura had 10 and nine points, respectively.

Benilde head coach Jerry Yee said he wants his players to be more careful in future games especially after they gave away 24 free points to FEU due to errors.

“We still don’t have the consistency because we still have those simple errors,” said Yee in Filipino. “We have to correct that in practice. Whoever we’re facing as long as we calm ourselves down then we would have composure.”

“Still, I’m an oldie in this one and we can’t expect too much in a first game. We can’t be too excited because we would be complacent.”

France Ronquillo and Czarina Carandang led the Lady Tamaraws with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
