MANILA, Philippines— Go for Gold has rolled out its promotional partnership with Fiba to drum up interest for the Basketball World Cup, which starts August 31.
To start, Go for Gold is giving fans an opportunity to watch Gilas Pilipinas take on Angola live in Foshan, China on September 4 in an all-expense-paid trip Mechanics of the contest can be found on Go for Gold’s and ScratchIt Facebook page.
“The theme would be to support our Gilas Pilipinas men’s basketball team in the Fiba World Cup and hopefully the Philippines does well in the tournament,’’ said Go for Gold godfather Jeremy Go.
Aside from Angola, the men’s basketball national team will also face world powerhouse teams Serbia and Italy in the group stages.
Gilas Pilipinas is appearing in its second consecutive Fiba World Cup.
Go for Gold, a backer of several national athletes and basketball teams, and Fiba recently sealed deal for a promotional partnership for all Fiba-related campaigns until next year.
“Fiba normally goes global, but this is the first time that Fiba will work with a local sponsorship. It was a creative idea, very smart,’’ said Fiba marketing head James White during the contract signing.
