MANILA, Philippines—Terrence Jones’ chapter in the PBA has come to a close and he now looks forward to writing the next pages of his basketball story.
The former NBA player fell short in his mission to lead TNT to the Commissioner’s Cup championship with the KaTropa losing in six games to San Miguel culminating in a 102-90 Game 6 loss Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jones now prepares for a potential return to the PBA.
“If the opportunity comes [to return to the PBA] I’ll think about it but just right now I’m just moving forward to my next chapter and that’s trying to get ready for the NBA season,” said Jones.
The 6-foot-9 power forward already played seven seasons in the NBA with the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 10.4 points. 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.
His stellar play in the Commissioner’s Cup, which saw him take the Best Import award, drew the attention of the Rockets and it’s been rumored that a return is on the horizon.
“Right now, I’m preparing to just be ready for whatever team gives me the opportunity,” said Jones who averaged 35.7 points, 14.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.7 steals, and 3.5 blocks in the finals.
“If that’s Houston, you know, I have a familiar relationship with them and I know we’ll try to go win a championship.”
Jones played his first four seasons with the Rockets after the team selected him 18th overall from Kentucky in the 2012 Draft.
“I’m ready to get back home and start worrying about that. It’ll be something that I’m getting ready for now. I wasn’t really taking that into any consideration until my job was finished here first.”
