Cignal rallies to beat Petron, forces decider for PSL finals spot

MANILA, Philippines–Cignal forced a decider for a finals berth after rallying past defending champion Petron, 25-20, 10-25, 16-25, 27-25, 15-11 in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Tuesday.
On the brink of elimination, the HD Spikers relied on the veteran presence of Rachel Ann Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga to send their semifinals showdown against the Blaze Spikers into a rubber match on Thursday.
The winner of the match-up faces F2 Logistics, which already wrapped up Foton earlier, in a best-of-three series.
Daquis topscored with 21 points including five blocks while Gonzaga chipped in 15 points as Cignal showcased its resolve in the last two sets when Petron was ready to march back into the final.
