Volunteers heed call of Phisgoc for SEAG support

The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) will hold the Subic-Clark Cluster launch on Aug. 23 at Asean Convention Center in Clark Freeport Area, Pampanga, on the heels of some good news.

A lot of people, it seems, are ready to pitch in their help as volunteers for the country’s hosting of the biennial meet.

Since the Volunteers Program was launched in April, 36 partner institutions, mostly universities and colleges in Metro Manila, Northern and Central Luzon, have committed more than 6,000 volunteers from their respective schools to help the country’s hosting.

In total, more than 20,000 volunteer-applicants have heeded the call to be part of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Out of that number, 14,683 signed up at official SEA games volunteers’ online portals, including 2,960 foreign applicants.

Phisgoc chief Ramon Suzara said that for the Metro Manila events, 3,150 volunteers will be needed. Clark and Subic needs 2,250 and 1,980 support workforce respectively while the other clusters will require 1,620 volunteers.

Deputy director for Volunteers Program Chris Tiu is grateful for the support the public has shown for the SEA Games.
