MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines pulled off a stunner over China, 14-11, to claim the bronze medal in the 2019 Fiba 3×3 Under-18 Asia Cup Saturday at Palm Mall in Seremban, Malaysia.

Angelica Surada and Kristine Cayabyab had five points apiece for Gilas Pilipinas Women while Camille Clarin and Ella Fajardo combined for four points.

The Philippines, the No. 8 team in the tournament, not only wound up in third place but also shocked the top team in tournament.

Xianglin Wu tallied five points to lead China.

The Philippines was relegated to the bronze medal game after losing to Australia, 15-12, in the semifinals.

Fajardo led the Philippines with five points while Surada had four.

Cayabyab and Clarin combined for three points to add to the Philippines’ cause against Australia.

Shyla Heal led the Australians with six points and they will face Japan in the gold medal match.

The Philippines’ path to the semifinals was a close one after taking down New Zealand, 11-9.

Fajardo and Surada had five and four points, respectively, to lead Gilas in the quarterfinals.

Ella Bradley lead New Zealand with five points.
