The Philippines shocked No. 1 China, 14-11, to claim the bronze medal in the 2019 Fiba 3×3 Under-18 Asia Cup on Saturday at Palm Mall in Seremban, Malaysia.
Angelica Surada and Kristine Cayabyab had five points apiece for Gilas Pilipinas while Camille Clarin and Ella Fajardo combined for four points.
The Philippines was ranked eighth in the tournament.
Wu Xianglin tallied five points to lead China.
The Philippines was relegated to the bronze medal game after losing to Australia, 15-12, in the semifinals.
Fajardo led the Philippines with five points against the Aussies while Surada had four.
Shyla Heal led the Australians with six points and they were to face Japan for the gold.
The Philippines earlier defeated New Zealand, 11-9, behind the combined nine points of Fajardo and Surada.
