F2 Logistics jams Cignal, cops PSL All-Filipino crown

MANILA, Philippines—Fresher and sharper, F2 Logistics needed only three sets to dispose of weary Cignal, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19, and claim the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference title Tuesday night at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Cargo Movers came out with guns blazing, drawing enough firepower from their usual gunners led by Kalei Mau to win their second All-Filipino title and fourth PSL crown overall.

The Cargo Movers had the HD Spikers all figured out from the get-go in Game 2 after the two squads went the full distance in the finals opener.

From just a 12-11 edge in the third set, F2 Logistics delivered a backbreaking 6-0 blast capped by Ara Galang’s hit before Mau unleashed a thunderous title-clinching spike from the back row.

Mau was unstoppable yet again on her way to a game-high 19 points while Kim Kianna Dy added 13, highlighted by four blocks.

The 6-foot-2 Mau was hailed MVP and Best Scorer of the conference. Her teammate Majoy Baron was also recognized as 2nd Best Middle Blocker during the awarding ceremony.

Jovelyn Gonzaga, the hero of the HD Spikers’ magical run from a fifth-seed to a finalist, had nine points to lead her squad.

Three HD Spikers took home individual plums with Rachel Anne Daquis named 1st Best Outside Spiker, Jheck Dionela as Best Libero and Alohi Robins-Hardy as Best Setter.

Rounding out the conference’s top performers are Petron’s Sisi Rondina (2nd Best Outside Spiker) and Foton’s Jaja Santiago (1st Best Middle Blocker) and Dindin Santiago-Manabat (Best Opposite Spiker).
