The 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup is less than a day away, but a couple of teams in Group D are already up in arms.
Angola head coach Will Voigt tweeted about not only the displeasure of his own team but also of Italy’s.
Voigt said they were denied the use some of the facilities and claimed that the Italian national team did not receive basketballs to practice with.
“First 24 hours in Foshan and so far @BasketItalyit was refused to [be] given basketballs to practice with,” Voigt tweeted.
“We were refused a conference room, there is no Internet working, and they are charging everyone to wash practice gear and uniforms.”
“You can do better China and @Fiba… #FIBAWC.”
The Angolans will be the Filipinos’ last group assignment, with that match set on Sept. 4
Angola, the No. 39 team in the world, will play in the first game of Group D against world No. 4 Serbia at 3:30 p.m. (Manila time) at Foshan International Sports and Cultural Arena, while Italy will play the Gilas Pilipinas next at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
