CAPAS, Tarlac—Luke Gebbie and Remedy Rule each notched second gold medals late Sunday in the Philippine National Open Swimming Championships at New Clark City Aquatics Center here.
After their conquest in the 50-meter freestyle in the first day of the tournament, Gebbie and Rule upped things a notch and took the men’s and women’s 100-meter freestyle events.
Gebbie clocked in at 50.24 seconds for the gold medal while Jean Pierre Khouzam settled for the silver in 51.89 seconds. Third placer Maurice Ilustre finished with a time of 51.93 seconds.
Rule finished the course at 58.29 seconds while second placer Xiandi Chua was at 58.82 seconds and bronze medal winner Chloe Isleta clocked in at 58.87 seconds.
The tournament, which will run until Tuesday, will help the Philippine Swimming Incorporated form the team that will represent the country in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games that will take place here and in Manila.
Jessie Lacuna, who settled for the silver medal in the men’s 200-meter medley, ruled the men’s 400-meter medley taking the gold medal in 4:33.96.
Thomas Peregrina, the winner of the men’s 200-meter medley, settled for second place in 4:35.31.
