NCAA: Streaking San Sebastian ties for 2nd seed, fends off Arellano

MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian joined three other teams at the second seed after overcoming Arellano University, 85-79, at the end of the first round of the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament Friday at Cuneta Astrodome.

The Golden Stags improved to a 6-3 after four straight wins and created a four-way tie at the second seed with Lyceum, Letran, and College of St. Benilde.

Allyn Bulanadi led all scorers with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two steals  for San Sebastian while JM Calma had a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double.

RK Ilagan also finished in double figures with 12 points to go along four assists.

Despite shooting poorly from the field at 26-of-68, the Stags relied on their freethrow shooting, going 25-of-32, to bail them out.

Justin Arana had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kent Salado put up 13 points and six assists for the Chiefs, who dropped to a 2-7 card.
