Kaya closes in on Ceres
Staying aggressive in its title push, Kaya Iloilo closed in on leader Ceres-Negros after turning back Global Cebu, 5-1, on Saturday night in the Philippines Football League at Aboitiz pitch in Lipa City, Batangas.
A hattrick from Ghanaian striker Jordan Mintah and goals from Darryl Roberts and Alfred Osei propelled the Iloilo side to maximum points that cut Ceres’ lead at the top to just three points.
The Busmen, who did not play over the weekend as most of their players are with the national team seeing action in the World Cup qualifiers, still have a game in hand.

Global remained in last place with five points from 14 matches.
Later, Green Archers Global edged Mendiola FC, 2-1, behind goals from Christian Zubiri and Ronaldo Appiah.
Jim Ashley Flores cancelled out Zubiri’s opener as both teams entered halftime level with a goal each. But Appiah struck from the penalty spot once again as the Archers bounced back from a 0-7 drubbing of Stallion last week.
