MANILA, Philippines—PacificTown-Army and Air Force struck down their respective rivals Wednesday to bolster their campaigns in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Center.

PacificTown-Army scored its second win a row after blasting BaliPure, 25-17, 25-16, 27-25, solidifying its place in the middle of the standings with a 4-3 record.

The Lady Troopers were on their way to an easy win after taking the first two sets until the Water Defenders put up a fight, tying the third set at 20-20.

But Honey Royse Tubino spark a scoring binge for PacificTown-Army to preserve the victory and hand BaliPure its sixth loss in eight games.

Earlier, Air Force used its vast experience to melt Choco Mucho, 26-24, 14-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-17.

“We needed this win to build up our confidence,’ said Air Force coach Jasper Jimenez. “This is a big win against a strong team. I think we are starting to believe in ourselves.”

Abegail Nuval came off the bench to score nine points, including two aces that capped the match as the Jet Spikers logged in their second victory, tying the Flying Titans at 2-5.

Dell Palomata led Air Force with 18 points including four kill-blocks that stymied Choco Mucho at the net.
