MANILA, Philippines–Cat-quick guard Kent Salado played a stellar role during the Arellano Chiefs’ narrow 91-86 victory over the Perpetual Altas in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan.
Salado, a combination of speed and acumen, simply drove into the teeth of the defense in the closing minutes and fed his teammates with nifty passes on numerous occasions that keyed their only third win in 12 games.
Arturo Oliva preserved Salado’s heroics with a three off a feed by Salado for an 89-85 Arellano advantage with 21 seconds remaining.
Salado posted double-double figures of 18 points and 12 assists on top of four steals and three rebounds. The Altas continued their skid to 3-8.
