MACAU—Liaoning stuck it out until the end and held off Seoul, 83-82, to claim the East Asia Super League: The Terrific 12 championship Sunday night at Tap Seac Sports Pavilion here.
The two teams exchanged blow after blow in the fourth quarter that saw three ties and four lead changes.
Seoul held a 71-67 lead with 6:03 left in the game and was in front until the 2:39 mark of the fourth when tournament MVP Lance Stephenson drove for the layup that gave the Flying Leopards a 76-75 lead.
Jameel Warney’s three-pointer put Seoul to within a point with a second left but all Salah Mejri had to do was get rid of the ball and let the milliseconds run out.
Stephenson led the Flying Leopards with 34 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while Mejri added 19 points and seven boards.
Warney had a game-high 36 points and 17 rebounds to lead Seoul.
