Ferrer nabs another Acapulco crown
ACAPULCO – Top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer won his third straight Acapuloc ATP title on Saturday – and his third title of 2011 – with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over compatriot Fernando Verdasco.
Ferrer, ranked sixth in the world, added the title to the one he captured a week earlier in Buenos Aires, and his season-opening victory in Auckland.
Eighth-seeded Verdasco was appearing in his first final of the season and had no answer to Ferrer, who did not face a break point as he wrapped up the match in 69 minutes.
