The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) is hoping that it can have a complete national team when it sees action in the second leg of the Asean Grand Prix to be held in Laguna from Oct. 4-6.
Several stars coming from the Premier Volleyball league, counting top draw Alyssa Valdez, will be playing for their club teams on Oct. 5 in Iloilo.
Jia Morado and Maddie Madayag will also be down south that day and are vital cogs of the national squad.
Valdez and Morado play for Creamline, which will clash with Madayag’s Choco Mucho on that day. PetroGazz and PacificTown-Army collide on the same day.
PacificTown-Army’s Jovelyn Gonzaga is also included in the national squad although she is expected to suit up for the Philippine team in the four-nation meet.
She also plays for Cignal HD in Philippine Superliga, which will halt its ongoing Invitational Conference in the weekend of the Asean GP.
The Philippines finished third in the first leg recently held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
This team is being prepared to the fullest to medal in the Southeast Asian Games that the country will host later this year and the second leg of the Asean GP will be its final tuneup tournament before the biennial conclave.
The LVPI has also sought the permission of Rebisco, owners of Creamline and Choco Mucho teams, to allow at least Morado and Madayag with Valdez recovering from an ankle injury.
The two were able to compete in the first leg while Valdez was recuperating from right ankle sprain she suffered just before the team left for Thailand.
