The Philippines’ Aidric Chan returned a one-under-par 71 on Friday to easily make the cut in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China.

Together with an opening 75, the reigning Junior World champion has a 146 aggregate, but is an eye-popping 12 strokes off the lead being held by the red-hot Blake Windred of Australia.

Luis Castro, the other Philippine bet, stumbled with rounds of 80 and 79 to miss the cut.

Windred, the 11th-ranked player in the world, opened up with a bogey-free 63, with a mediocre 71 allowing South Korean Jun Min-lee and Japan’s Ren Yonezawa to close the halfway deficit to a stroke after similar 67s.
