Petron, Generika eye share of lead

Petron and Generika-Ayala gun for a share of the early lead at each other’s expense Monday to cap another busy triple-header in the Philippine Superliga Invitationals at FilOil Flying V Centre.

After winning their debuts, the Blaze Spikers and the Lifesavers clash at 6 p.m. as they seek to join idle Cignal HD at the top.

But the way things stand, Generika-Ayala will have its hands full against Petron, which opened its bid with a convincing three-set victory over defending champion F2 Logistics late Saturday.

F2 Logistics will go for a rebound win, facing Marinerang Pilipina at 4 p.m.

PLDT will also try for a second consecutive win when it goes up against winless Foton in the curtain-raiser at 2 p.m.

“The players did well and I’m very proud of them,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos. “This is a short tournament and we need to pile up as many wins as possible.”

The Lifesavers opened their campaign with a win over the Lady Skippers on opening day.
