Cargo Movers back in top form; Foton snaps slide

Reigning champion F2 Logistics rebounded from a lackluster effort the last time out and vent its ire on Marinerang Pilipina, scoring a 25-14, 25-17, 25-11 ripping to get back on track in the Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference Monday at FilOil Flying V Centre.

Following a frustrating 22-25, 23-25, 18-25 loss to Petron last Saturday, the Cargo Movers bounced back with an easy win as Ara Galang, Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy provided unmatched offensive firepower.

Galang delivered 17 points off 14 kills, while Baron and Dy chipped in 12 apiece. Desiree Cheng added nine points and 13 digs for the Cargo Movers, who drew an explosive game from setter Kim Fajardo.

Fajardo, who struggled last conference with a finger injury, scattered the offensive wealth with 21 excellent sets.

Foton snapped a two-game losing streak earlier after turning back PLDT Home Fibr, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

“Our previous loss was a wake-up call, but knowing my team, they adjusted right away,” said F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus.

“The players showed the real game of F2 Logistics unlike our last game.”

Marinerang Pilipina took a second straight defeat.

The Tornadoes displayed a balanced attack to clobber the Power Spikers in 78 minutes and capture their first win.

Elaine Kasilag was also impressive as she chipped in 10 hits, while EJ Laure and Marian Buitre added eight points each.

“Of course, we’re happy. Coming from two losses, this is a huge boost for us,” said Foton coach Aaron Velez.

Foton is now tied with PLDT at 1-2. The Tornadoes advanced to Pool D with Sta. Lucia, Generika-Ayala and F2 Logistics.
